Anhang 4: Manual Downloader Software for the ComClient and EIB - Controller

1. Requirements

Please install the TCP/IP protocol on your PCs. Use the PING command for testing the communication.

Windows 3.11 users:
If you are using a "Windows for Workgroups" (WfW) network, you have to obtain the TCP stack "Microsoft TCP/IP-32 3.11b" from Microsoft. If you are using a Novell network, you have to install the "Client/32" software and the "Novell TCP/IP" from Novell.

Windows 95 and Windows NT users:
Using the "Control Panel":

* Click the network icon,

* Choose the protocol tab,

* Press "Add".

* Choose "Microsoft" from the list

* And last: "TCP/IP"

If you have any question, please contact your network administrator.

2. Installation of the Downloader Software

The disk delivered with the ComClient/EIB Controller contains a program named "CCDOWN.EXE". You can copy it on your harddisk or start it directly from disk. No other files are required.

3. Using the Downloader Software

3.1 Main menu

On top of the window is a list with all known ComClients. Press the button "Verbinden" (Connect) to connect to the chosen ComClient.

In the area "Lokal" (local) you can choose the directory with the new firmware you want to download to the ComClient.

In the area "Fern" (remote) you will see the contents of the ComClient.

If you are connected to the ComClient, you can transfer the selected local files to the remote ComClient using the button "auf CC kopieren" (copy to CC).

You can test the serial com port(s) of the ComClient if you are using a loopback adaptor.

If you press the "Loopback Test" button a testing sequence will be transmitted and received on the port. (Not avail for all models).

"CC Neustarten" (CC reboot) restarts the connected ComClient. You have to reboot the ComClient after a firmware update.

The next chapter describes the functionality of the "IP Verwaltung" (IP management) button.

3.2 IP - Management

Here you can add new ComClients to your downloader list. The following dialog will be shown:

In this list all known ComClients will be displayed. The first column shows the IP address of the CC. The second one contains the serial number. The last one presents the address of your ethernet network card (MACID).

"Neu" (New): create a new entry.

"Ändern" (Change): change the selected ComClient.

"Löschen" (Delete): removes the selected entry from the list.

On "New" or "Change" the following dialog will be displayed:

In the first edit field please type in the serial number ("Seriennummer") of your ComClient/EIB Controller. The serial number is on the ComClient label. In the next field you can type in the MAC adress of your networking card. You can leave it empty if you don´t know your MACID. In the "IP - Adresse" fields you have to type in the address you want to give the CC/Eib Controller. Please correkt also the subnet mask and the standard gateway if you cant´t use the default settings. "OK" accepts your settings, "Abbruch" (cancel) ignores them and closes the dialog..

3.3 Download of the IP address to the ComClient/Controller

Define a new ComClient IP address using the IP Management of the Downloader Software.

Step 1: Turn off the ComClient (by disconnecting from the voltage) and press the "PRG" button on the controller. This button is placed above the red and green LED.

Step 2: Turn on the ComClient (connect it again) but let the button pressed. After a short time the red LED will start to blink. Let the button still pressed until the red LED stops to blink and the green one starts its flashing.

Step 3: Now you can release the "PRG" button. If the ComClients is correctly programmed he will respond to a PING command..

The IP address is now saved in the ComClient..

Troubleshooting:

The green LED doesn´t start to flash and after a short time both LEDs are lit.

Solution:

The ComClient is placed in a different sub net or he is not connected to the network at all. Please check your network connecion. Check the chosen TCP/IP address.
